COLLAGEN FIBERS – 1
Most of the structures visible in this image of connective tissue are collagen fibers. Some of them are highlighted in blue when you move the cursor over the image or click on it.
Notice the following features:
– the pink color of the collagen fibers produced by the eosin stain.
– – The variation in fiber thickness. Collagen fibers can differ considerably in diameter.
– The different directions and relatively irregular arrangement of the collagen fibers. As you will see later, however, collagen fibers are highly organized in some types of connective tissue, such as tendons.
There are many nuclei of connective tissue cells. The different types of these cells will be studied later., that will be studied later on.
